Joan Horvath is a co-founder of
Nonscriptum LLC. This Pasadena-based consulting and training firm was founded in early 2015 and focuses on teaching educators and scientists how to use maker tech. Joan is an MIT alumna, recovering rocket scientist and educator, with a position as a Core Adjunct faculty member for National University. She has collaborated on six maker tech books for the Apress imprint of Springer-Nature, and on courses for
Lynda.com. Joan and Rich are the featured authors on Apress' website in the
maker and electronics category. They were semifinalists for the worldwide 2016 Hackaday Prize with
their project to create math and science models for the visually impaired, and are working on developing new ways of teaching math with their
Hacker Calculus project. Joan and Rich are frequent speakers at maker events.
